Fawn Smiley, L.Ac grew up in Savannah. She earned her undergraduate degree in Anthropology at the University of California and did her graduate work at San Francisco’s American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She had additional training under the mentorship of Dr. Jiahua Tao, of the Savannah Acupuncture Center. Currently, she studies with Jeffrey Yuen.
Since opening Hidden Well Acupuncture Center in 1999, she has introduced many people to oriental medical healing. Her understanding of how the mind and body create one another both harmoniously and inharmoniously is of great benefit to many patients. Her treatments are thoughtful and exceedingly peaceful. The environment at Hidden Well is exceptionally conducive to healing. Working with people at what ever goal or level of healing they are up for is her intention. She works closely with each person to help them achieve or maintain wellness.
Before Acupuncture was legal in Georgia Fawn diligently lobbied for licensure. The name “Hidden Well” was no joke in the early days. Many years later, the location is still quiet and hidden, the presence of Hidden Well and all other acupuncture in our state is due in part to her efforts.Today, the name represents more that deep place in all of us, that can bring about transformational change.
Fawn has a great passion for bringing into practice the most profound and fundamental opportunities for healing. In the lineage which she studies, the scope of the medicine shifts outside the range of what is typically contained by most post-communist China practitioners into a realm that is the deeper energetics of people’s bodies, their lives and the cosmos. Her recent work with the stones, gems and minerals as well as the deeper pathways of the body brings some early alchemical healing styles to modern practice after having been lost for centuries.
She really enjoys studying the classics and is engaged in bringing into practice the rich history inherent in Classical Chinese medicine. She feels honored to be a practitioner of this medicine.
